How are these classes specialized for people experiencing chronic pain in their recovery process?
Empowering autonomy of choice:
these are all virtually: Claira provides guided verbal queues around making informed choices for people living with structural changes (spine and back specific), nerve damage, neurodivergent, hyper mobility, and many other disabilities that effect one physical body either permanent or while in recovery from major medical intervention.
Accessible movement:
Classes are always beginner friendly, no you don’t need to have a “yoga” practice or background in fitness to enjoy and find improvement.
There is an emphasis around props usage, modifications of poses, and having the breath lead the movements.
Claira verbally guides you through your unique ROM, finding stretch through stability, and prioritizing postural balancing.
Desensitizing the central nervous system:
This is central pillar in chronic pain remission: reestablishing a homeostasis between the top down and bottom up pain signaling of your nervous system. this is practiced from body awareness training, breath work, and properly paces spinal and core activation.
Trauma informed Mindfulness:
through gentle mindful practices you learn how to uncouple emotional triggers from pain sensations in the brain, rewiring and adjusting your bodies response to nociception (bottom up pain signaling).
Thoughtfully increasing one interoception to learn your unique bodies boundaries, and “yes” signals.
The goal of these classes are built to create the space of self inquiry to learn how to respect and listen to your body. Pain is our bodies main form of communicating distress. Slowing down and learning how to listen will help you find your ability levels and to allow unresolved nervous system tension to have a chance to move through and unwind in your fascial system.

This freely given offering came from Claira’s desire to share how their practice on the mat has helped them manage their chronic pain.
Their yoga practice radically changed when they went through multiple intensive surgeries, and permanent structural disabilities. They found that the appropriated western yoga classes they had access to was making their pain worse not better. Since they had the unique perspective as a base level certified yoga teacher to modify and keep a practice up, unlike most. They started recording themselves and are now sharing these practices on Youtube. You will find a range of asana (movement), pranayama (breath work), dharana (meditation), and prathyahara (introception).
We know that safe and accessible movement is a pillar of chronic pain management and remission. They hope that these classes can be a haven for people to find relief, safety, and a sense of peace in the body again.
